Technopreneurship is entrepreneurship in a technology intensive context. ‘Technopreneurship’ is a combination of two words ‘technology’ and ‘entrepreneurship’. Organisations are increasingly looking towards their intrapreneurs to create new business in new markets. Intrapreneurship is more important in the fast changing world of today than ever before. Accordingly, intrapreneur is “a person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk-taking and innovation.” The term “intrapreneur” was officially recognized in 1992 with the definition given in the American Heritage Dictionary. The term “intra-corporate entrepreneur” was introduced by Gifford Pinchot in 1973.
